Sydney Sings Verdi 2017

Sunday 13 November, Sydney Town Hall – rehearsal and concert

Welcome to Sydney Sings, the home of massed choral events mounted by the Sydney University Graduate Choir and orchestra, in the Sydney Town Hall. These events involve professional soloists and orchestra, together with Sydney University Graduate Choir augmented by guest choristers from Sydney and beyond.

Our major event for 2017 is Sydney Sings Verdi’s Requiem in the Sydney Town Hall at 3.00pm on Sunday 12 November 2017.

Verdi’s masterpiece Messa da Requiem, with the biggest orchestra we’ve ever had, a choir of over 300 singers, outstanding soloists and of course Verdi’s beautiful music, ranging from dramatic furore to peaceful comfort.

We will be joined by stunning soloists:

Soprano: Natalie Aroyan
Mezzo: Ashlyn Tymms
Tenor: Andrew Goodwin
Bass: Adrian Tamburini

After a very well-received performance of Verdi’s Requiem with a large guest choirs in 2013, we are once again presenting Sydney Sings Verdi in 2017, thanks to the generous support of the City of Sydney. We will have over 200 guest choristers join us to sing this great masterwork.

Tickets for the performance are available from the Seymour Centre.

Past Sydney Sings events have been:

November 2016: Handel Messiah
August 2014: Australian War Requiem
April 2013: Verdi Requiem
November 2012: Handel Messiah
November 2010: Handel Messiah
November 2007: Handel Messiah

Sydney University Graduate Choir hopes to continue to mount Sydney Sings events, offering opportunities to many other choristers to join us in performing important large-scale choral works.
